The present disclosure relates the technical field of display, and provides a display substrate, a display device, a mask plate, and a manufacturing method. In the method, a pattern structure is formed on a substrate. The substrate comprises a first substrate part and a second substrate part which are adjacent to each other. The pattern structure is formed on the first substrate part. A planarization layer is formed on the substrate. The planarization layer comprises a first planarization layer on the first substrate part and a second planarization layer on the second substrate part. A projection of the first planarization layer on the substrate covers a projection of the pattern structure on the substrate. A part of the first planarization layer is removed to reduce a height difference between a height from a surface of at least a part of the first planarization layer on one side distant from the substrate to the substrate and a height from a surface of the second planarization layer on one side distant from the substrate to the substrate. According to the present disclosure, the problem of color shift of a viewing angle of a display screen can be solved, and a display effect of the display screen is improved.
