Abstract:

A crystal display unit for performing a capacity coupling drive, wherein voltage irregularities and display irregularities due to a larger size and a higher resolution are eliminated. A display unit comprising a plurality of pixel electrodes (5) disposed in a matrix form, switching elements (3) connected to the electrodes, scanning electrodes (1), video signal electrodes (2), and counter electrodes for forming a capacitance between them and pixel electrodes (5), wherein a storage capacity (7) is provided between pixel electrodes (5) and scanning electrodes excluding that in the current stage, at least two capacity components including at least a capacity (4) between switching elements' gates and draines and the storage capacity (7) and connected to pixel electrodes (5) have different values according to the distances from the feed ends of the scanning electrodes (1), and capacity components at respective pixels are set so that a first capacity ratio $g(a)gd = Cgd/Ctot increases continuously or step-wise according to the distances from the feed ends of scanning electrodes (1) and a second capacity ratio $g(a)st = Cst/Ctot is about constant, where a total capacity connected to pixel electrodes (5) at one pixel is Ctot.
