An apparatus, e.g. a portable telephone, has a display screen provided with a function of microphone and speaker so that the front face of the apparatus can be used widely as the display screen. The display window comprises a light transmitting diaphragm, a member for supporting the diaphragm, a piezoelectric element secured to the diaphragm, and an input/output amplifier for the piezoelectric element. The display window has a voice input/output function arranged such that a vibration caused by a sound pressure applied to the diaphragm is transmitted to the piezoelectric element, an electromotive force induced in the piezoelectric element is taken out as a voltage waveform through an amplifier, the voltage waveform is inputted trough the amplifier to the piezoelectric element which is thereby deformed, the deformation is transmitted, as a vibration, to the diaphragm and a sound is generated therefrom.
