Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1997/025705
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A display in which the wiring to each display element is simplified and which can be easily assembled and maintained. The display is constituted by arranging a large number of display units (50) in a matrix, each constituted of display elements (10) composed of incandescent lamps, control elements (51) composed of relays, a nonvolatile memory (52) composed of an EEPROM, and a controller (53) composed of a CPU. A power transmitting path (61) for supplying electric power and signal transmitting path (71) for supplying synchronizing signals are provided and connected to each display unit (50). In the memory (52) of each unit (50), display information according to which the change with time of the display mode of turn-on/off is determined. The controller (53) of each unit (50) controls the turn-on/off of the control elements according to the display information in synchronism with the synchronizing signals to turn-on/off the display elements (10). When a rewrite signal is supplied to the signal transmitting path (71), the contents of each memory can be rewritten.
