Abstract:
A display comprising a back substrate (4) provided with a large number of surface conduction
electron discharge elements (16), a front substrate (2) provided with a phosphor
layer (12), a sidewall (6) for bonding the front substrate and the back substrate,
and a large number of spacers (8). A film for suppressing charging is provided
on the surface of the spacer. Temperature resistance coefficient of the film
increases gradually from the front substrate toward the back substrate. Even
when the temperature of the front substrate becomes higher than that of the back
substrate, resistance of the film does not differ significantly between one
end and the other end of the spacer and it has no adverse effect on the orbit of an
electron beam passing closely to the spacer. Temperature resistance coefficient of
the film can be varied by varying the thickness or material of the film.
