Abstract:
In the present invention, a transparent cover (12) covers a light emission element (41) and a light reception element (42) and forms a part of the exterior of a vehicle. On the basis of the time from the emission of detection light (L1) by the light emission element (41) until the incidence on the light reception element of reflected light (L2), a processor (15) calculates the distance to the object (200) that the reflected light (L2) is from. The distance calculation by the processor (15) is carried out after the passage of at least the time from the emission of the detection light (L1) until the incidence on the light reception element (42) of reflected light (L3) reflected by the inner surface (12a) of the transparent cover (12).
