Abstract:
The purpose of this invention is to provide a distance measurement device that is capable of increasing the amount of light emitted for illumination while smoothly detecting the distance to an object. This distance measurement device (100) comprises: a light source (110) for emitting illumination light (L1) including visible light; an imaging element (121) for receiving reflected light (R1) resulting from the reflection of the illumination light (L1) by an object; and a signal processing circuit (133) for decreasing the emitted illumination light (L1) at a prescribed period, detecting a time when the reflected light (R1) received by the imaging element (121) decreased as a result of the decrease in the illumination light (L1), and measuring the distance to the object on the basis of the detected time. This invention is suitable for use with, for example, a vehicle headlight.
