The invention relates to a distance measuring device which uses a coupling probe for measuring the distance to a piston both discreetly and continuously. Said coupling probe feeds a transmission signal into a conducting structure, for example into a hollow conductor delimited by a piston rod, a piston and a cylinder wall.
