Abstract:
Disclosed are a method for distinguishing optical disk types, an optical disk device, and an integrated circuit which can reliably distinguish the type of an optical disk. The optical disk distinction method comprises: a first seek step (S3) which carries out a seek operation for a predetermined base address within the user information space; a second seek step (S5) which carries out a seek operation from the base address which was found by the seek operation of the first seek step for a predetermined target address within the physical information space (S3); an address reading step (S7) which reads the current address of the location found by the seek operation of the second seek step (S5); and optical disk type determination steps (S8-S10) which determine the type of optical disk on the basis of the current address read in the address reading step (S7).
