Abstract:
A partitioning circuit partitions a 32-bit dividend (1695) in order from the least significant bit of the dividend by four bits each, and outputs 9 units of dividends (X0 to X8) after partitioning. The sequence position of each of the dividends after partitioning, originating from the dividend after partitioning that includes the least significant bit, is treated as i (i = 0 to 8). By way of a first output circuit, each dividing circuit outputs an 8-bit quotient obtained by dividing by 3 (2n - 1, n = 2) the value of appending an integer multiple of 4 of bits of 0s to the lower order of the respective dividend after partitioning. By way of a second output circuit, each dividing circuit outputs a first bit string of the upper-order 4 bits among the 8-bit quotient, and a second bit string in which the i groups of the lower-order 4 bits among the 8-bit quotient have been ordered. A quotient summing circuit calculates, as the quotient of 1695 divided by 3, the sum of the values in which the first bit string output from each dividing circuit is treated as an upper-order bit string for the respective dividing circuit and the second bit strings which have been output from the respective dividing circuit are treated as lower-order bit strings.
