Abstract:
The present invention relates to dividing wall distillation columns for production of high-purity 2-ethylhexanol and fractionation methods using same. More specifically, the dividing wall distillation tower comprises a condenser, a reboiler, and a main tower equipped with dividing wall, the main tower is divided into a top section, an upper providing section, an upper outflow section, a lower providing section, a lower outflow section and a bottom section, crude 2-ethylhexanol feed (F) is flowed into the middle providing port (NR1) positioned between the upper providing section and the lower providing section, low-boiling component (D) is flowed out from the top section, high-boiling component (B) is flowed out from the bottom section, mid-boiling component (S) is flowed out from the middle outflow port (NR2) positioned between the upper outflow section and the lower outflow section, and the mid-boiling component is 2-ethylhexanol. The dividing wall distillation columns of the present invention can achieve the effect of two distillation columns with a single distillation column, and thus reduces costs for installation of the apparatus as well as save energy when compared to conventional apparatuses for producing high-purity 2-ethylhexanol.
