Abstract:
A dog clutch (D) comprises: a relay member (4) which is supported on a rotary shaft (3) so as to be movable in the axial direction and so as to be incapable of relative rotation; a first transmission body (1) which is capable of relative rotation with respect to the rotary shaft; a second transmission body (2) which is capable of relative turning with respect to the first transmission body; and an elastic member (6) which can hold a high dog (2d) of the second transmission body at a prescribed position between adjacent low dogs (1d, 1d) of the first transmission body. In a process where the relay member is caused to approach the first and second transmission bodies during a relative rotation state between the first transmission body and the rotary shaft, if a high dog, which engages an engagement dog (4d) before the low dogs, is engaged against the elastic member to one of the low dogs among the adjacent low dogs, a circumferential direction gap (20) is formed between the other low dog and the high dog, the engagement dogs being able to penetrate into such gap. Due to this configuration, provided is a dog clutch which can increase meshing efficiency and reduce backlash after meshing while increasing impact absorption effects during dog meshing.
