Title:
DOMESTIC HAND-HELD COLON IRRIGATOR WITHOUT NOZZLE INSERTION INTO THE ANUS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/047501
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
In contrast with the conventional colon irrigator in which the injection nozzle must be inserted deeply into the anus causing anal or rectal injuries along with reluctance in the user's mind, the domestic hand-held colon irrigator of the present invention can introduce a large amount of water into the colon by utilizing the kinetic energy of the strong water jet streams which can push open the anus while the spray nozzle only touches on the anus. Differing from conventional bidets for enema, it can introduce a lot of water into the colon without introduction of air into the colon since the spray nozzle is in close contact with the anus. The present domestic hand-held colon irrigator can be easily installed and conveniently used at home while sitting comfortably on the toilet seat in case of constipation. Furthermore, the present domestic hand-held colon irrigator can bring about a revolutionary change in our evacuation habit in which we evacuate passively only when nature calls because it enables us to evacuate anytime we want without having to wait for the call of nature even when the colon is partially filled.

Description:

[DESCRIPTION] [Invention Title]

Domestic Hand-held Colon Irrigator Without Nozzle Insertion Into the Anus

[Technical Field]

<i> The present invention relates to a colon irrigator, more particularly a domestic hand-held colon irrigator that can be installed right next to the toilet bowl and can be used conveniently while sitting on the toilet seat to irrigate the colon in case of constipation without nozzle insertion into the anus.

<2>

[Background Art]

<3> Large-scale and high-priced colon irrigators are generally used in the hospitals in cases of severe constipation, preparing for colon endoscopy or removing feces contained long in the colon which generates harmful gases and carcinogens causing headache, lumbago, stomachache, insomnia, and melancholia.

<4>

<5> Recently several domestic colon irrigators which can be used at home while sitting on the toilet seat have been developed. They are Hygienic, Removable Toilet Attachment for Enema, Douche or Colonic Irrigation by In E. MoonCUS Patent No.5,946,741) , Portable Colon Irrigator by Hughes H. KwakCUS Patent No.6,665,888) and Colon Irrigation Apparatus by Byong Gil Choi (KR Patent No.10-0470551). However, all these domestic colon irrigators require water storage tanks and the injection nozzles must be inserted deeply into the anusCrefer to Nozzle Position-1 in Figure 8), which might cause injuries in the anus or the rectum along with reluctance or fears to users. In the Bidet for Enema by Jee Yong Chu et al.(KR Patent No.20-0335719), a water storage tank is not required since it is connected to the water pipe but the injection nozzle still needs to be inserted into the anus.

<6>

<7> In the Bidet by KiI Yong Jeon (KR Patent No.10-0630420) , a water storage tank is not required since it is connected to the water pipe and the spray nozzle does not need to be inserted into the anus since the kinetic energy of the fast water jet streams generated at a distant spray nozzle from the anus can open up the closed anus. However, not much water goes into the colon since a lot of air goes into the colon along with the water because the water goes through the anus while the anus is open to the air(refer to Nozzle Posit ion-2 in Figure 8). Therefore, it can be called enema rather than colon irrigation. Furthermore, it is inconvenient to use because one should move around his hip in order to match the water jet streams with the anus since the spray nozzle is at a fixed position.

<8>

[Disclosure] [Technical Problem]

<9> 1. Invention of a domestic colon irrigator which can inject a large amount of water into the colon without insertion of the injection nozzle into the anus, <io>

<ii> 2. Invention of a domestic colon irrigator which can inject a large amount of water into the colon without introduction of air into the colon along with the water,

<12>

<13> 3. Invention of a domestic colon irrigator in which the position of the injection nozzle can be matched with the anus while sitting comfortably on the toilet seat by moving the injection nozzle (something like manually moving around the hand-held shower head which is attached to the hose) rather than by moving the hip,

<14>

<15> 4. Invention of a domestic colon irrigator which can be connected directly to the water pipe so that a water storage tank can be omitted and

the high water pressure in the water pipe can be utilized.

<16>

[Technical Solution]

<17> The present invention of the domestic hand-held colon irrigator without insertion of the injection nozzle into the anus is described in details with drawings(Figures 1-4, 8) and pictures(Figures 5-7) as follows:

<i9> Figure 1 shows the domestic hand-held colon irrigator of the present invention, which is composed of the spray nozzle(2), the neck of spray nozzle(3), the handle(4) with the pressure control valve(5) and the connecting hose(6) which can be connected to the water pipe. The spray nozzle(2) which is designed to generate strong water jet streams has one or several holes of 0.5-3mm in diameter on its terminal end which has the spherical shape or similar to it.

<20>

<2i> The neck of spray nozzle(3) whose role is to pass the water from the handle(4) to the spray nozzle(2) is composed of a tube of 3-10mm in diameter and 20-70cm in length. After entering into the toilet bowl from the above between the two legs as shown in Figure 2, the neck of spray nozzle(3) can have various shapes in order to bypass the penis and scrotum before arriving at the spray nozzle(2) and the anus as follows:

<22>

<23> Shape-1 : As shown in Figure 2, the neck of spray nozzle(3) which bypasses the penis and scrotum vertically below them, is bent about 45 degrees vertically to go down deeply into the toilet bowl, followed by being bent vertically into the opposite direction about 90 degrees, followed by being bent vertically again into the same direction about 90 degree before arriving at the spray nozzle(2) and the anus.

<24>

<25> Shape-2 : As shown in Figure 3, the neck of spray nozzle(3) which bypasses the penis and scrotum horizontally to the right or left side, is

bent vertically about 45 degrees to go down slightly into the toilet bowl, followed by being bent horizontally about 90 degrees, followed by being bent gently about 180 degrees or being bent sharply about 90 degrees twice horizontally, followed by being bent again 90 degrees vertically to arrive at the spray nozzle(2) and the anus.

<26>

<27> Shape-3 '• As shown in Figure 4, the neck of spray nozzle(3) which pushes the penis and scrotum horizontally instead of bypassing them, is bent vertically about 30 degrees to go down slightly into the toilet bowl, followed by being bent vertically into the opposite direction about 60 degrees, followed by being bent vertically into the same direction about 90 degrees in order to arrive at the spray nozzle(2) and the anus. When this type of the neck of spray nozzle(3) goes down into the toilet bowl following close to the wide-open right or left leg, it can bypass the penis and scrotum to arrive at the spray nozzle(2) and the anus.

<28>

<29> The neck of the spray nozzle(3) can have many different shapes other than the above three examples. The neck of the spray nozzle(3) is made of stiff but pliable materials so that its curved shape can be adjusted to the individual body shape. Figures 5-7 show pictures of the present domestic hand-held colon irrigators of the above three shapes.

<30>

<3i> Figures 2-4 shows the domestic hand-held colon irrigator of the present invention in use in which the spray nozzle(2) is in contact with the anus after being introduced between the legs of the person who is sitting comfortably on the toilet seat. The irrigation water is designed to pass through the connecting hose(6), the handle(4) with the control valve(5), the neck of spray nozzle(3) and the spray nozzle(2). The position of the spray nozzle(2) can be easily sensed by the touch of the spray nozzle on the hip skin. When the pressure control valve(5) is opened after matching the spray nozzle(2) with the anus by moving around the spray nozzle(2) with the

handle(4), the water introduced into the spray nozzle(2) turns into strong water jet streams whose kinetic energy can push open the closed anus so that all the water goes into the anus without loss and without introduction of air into the colon(refer to Nozzle Position-3 in Figure 8). One can feel how much water is filled into the colon by the sense of evacuation. When the feeling of evacuation is sensed high, one can evacuate after closing the control valve and detaching the spray nozzle(3) from the anus. By repeating the above procedure 2-3 times, the descending colon and the rectum can be thoroughly cleansed.

<32>

[Advantageous Effects]

<33> 1. The present domestic hand-held colon irrigator can introduce a large amount of water into the colon without insertion of the spray nozzle into the anus so that it causes neither injuries in the anus nor reluctance in the user's mind,

<34>

<35> 2. Differing from the conventional bidet for enema, the present domestic hand-held colon irrigator can introduce a large amount of water into the colon without air introduction into the colon since the spray nozzle(2) is in close contact with the anus,

<36>

<37> 3. The present domestic hand-held colon irrigator is more convenient to use than the conventional bidet for enema since the position of the spray nozzle(2) can be easily matched with the anus by manually moving around the spray nozzle with the handle(4) (something like moving around manually the hand-held shower head which is attached to the hose) rather than by moving around the hip,

<38>

<39> 4. The present domestic hand-held colon irrigator can be made small enough to be hand-held and can be easily and cheaply installed in our bathroom. Therefore, it enables everybody to evacuate conveniently and

rapidly in case of constipation.

<40>

<4i> 5. Furthermore, the present domestic hand-held colon irrigator can bring about a revolutionary change in our evacuation habit in which we evacuate passively only when nature calls. This is because it enables us to evacuate anytime we want without having to wait for the call of nature even when the colon is partially filled.
