Description:
A DOOR ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM

Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a door adjustment mechanism for adjusting positions of doors especially the sliding doors of motor vehicles.

Background of the Invention

In vehicles with sliding doors, after the sliding door is attached to the vehicle body, the position of the sliding door on the X axis should be adjusted in case the spaces between the sliding door and the front door and the rear fender are not suitable for the project. This adjustment is not available on some vehicles.

In an adjustment mechanism known in the state of the art, the connection holes of middle slide mechanism on the door are in form of slot. The door can be slid on this slot and therefore the position of the door can be adjusted. It is not possible to precisely adjust the position of the door using this mechanism.

In another adjustment mechanism known in the state of the art, the movable part of the middle slide mechanism on the body comprises two parts. These two parts are connected to each other with a channel or a screw. When it is wanted to change the position of the door, the screw is loosened and the channel is slid. When the door is in the desired position, the screw is tightened again. It is not possible to precisely adjust the position of the door using this mechanism.

International patent document no WO2018109386A1, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a mechanism comprising an eccentric system for adjusting the middle slide mechanism on the sliding door. European patent document no EP2933126B 1, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a system for moving the middle slide mechanism in X axis. In this system, the middle slide mechanism is connected to an attachment bracket via connection members. The said attachment bracket is connected to longitudinal holes made on the door, and it can move about 3 mm in x axis.

The adjustment mechanisms in the state of the art cannot enable the position of the door on X axis to be adjusted precisely.

Summary of the Invention

The objective of the present invention is to develop an alternative door adjustment mechanism for adjusting the positions of vehicle sliding doors in X axis.

Detailed Description of the Invention

A door adjustment mechanism developed in order to fulfil the objective of the present invention is illustrated in accompanied figures, in which

Figure 1 is a view of the door adjustment mechanism according to invention.

Figure 2 is an exploded view of the door adjustment mechanism according to invention.

The components shown in the figures are each given reference numbers as follows:

1. Door adjustment mechanism

2. Slide mechanism

21. Lug

211. Screw hole 3. Reference pin

31. Screw gap

32. Slot

4. Adjusting screw

41. Protrusion

5. Fixing pin opening

The door adjustment mechanism (1) for adjusting the positions of vehicle sliding doors in X axis essentially comprises

at least one slide mechanism (2) which is suitable for connecting a door to a slide provided on a vehicle body, one side of which is suitable for connected to the said door and the other side of which is suitable for connecting to the said body, and which has a lug (21) provided on the part that is suitable for connecting to the door and comprising at least one threaded screw hole (211),

at least one reference pin (3) one side of which is suitable for being mounted on a door, which corresponds to the screw hole (211) in mounted state of the door adjustment mechanism (1), and which has at least one screw gap (31) suitable for a screw passing through it and at least one slot (32) extending with an angle relative to the screw gap (31),

at least one adjusting screw (4) which is suitable for passing through the screw gap (31) which the reference pin (3) has and through the screw hole (211) which the slide mechanism has, and which has at least one protrusion (41) which is suitable for entering into the slot (32) which the reference pin (3) has.

The door adjustment mechanism (1) of the present invention essentially comprises at least one slide mechanism (2) which is suitable for connecting a door to a slide provided on a vehicle body. In mounted state of the door adjustment mechanism (1), one side of the slide mechanism (2) is connected to the vehicle body, and the other part is connected to the door. In the part of the slide mechanism (2) which is suitable for being connected to the door, there is at least one lug (21) extending such that it will move away from the door in its mounted state. The lug (21) has at least one threaded screw hole (211).

The door adjustment mechanism (1) of the present invention comprises at least one reference pin (3) one side of which is suitable for being mounted on a door. The said reference pin (3) at least one screw gap (31) which corresponds to the screw hole (211) in mounted state of the door adjustment mechanism (1) and which is suitable for a screw passing therein. The reference pin (3) has at least one slot (32) which is on another plane that is preferably almost perpendicular to the plane on which the screw gap (31). In other words, for example if the screw gap (31) extends on an X-Y plane, the slot (32) extends on a Y-Z plane. This arrangement is only given as an example. The screw gap (31) and the slot (32) can extend over any two different planes.

The door adjustment mechanism (1) of the present invention further comprises at least one adjusting screw (4) which is suitable for passing through the screw gap

(31) which the reference pin (3) has and through the screw hole (211) which the slide mechanism has, and which has at least one protrusion (41) which is suitable for entering into the slot (32) which the reference pin (3) has. The said protrusion (41) fits into the slot (32) in mounted state of the door adjustment mechanism (1).

When the adjusting screw (4) is rotated after the door adjustment mechanism (1) of the present invention is mounted, it will move the reference pin (3) closer to the lug (21) or away from the lug (21) depending on the direction of the rotation. This movement is provided by the screw threads of the adjusting screw (4) rotating in the screw threads located on the screw hole (211) of the lug (21). When the screw (4) is rotated in tightening direction, the protrusion (41) moves closer to the lug (21). When the screw (4) is rotated in loosening direction, the protrusion (41) moves away from the lug (21). Since the protrusion (41) is fitted inside the slot

(32) provided on the reference pin (3), the reference pin (3) also moves with the protrusion. Since the door to which the reference pin (3) is attached also moves with the reference pin (3), the adjustment of the door can be performed easily and precisely.

In one embodiment of the invention, the door adjustment mechanism (1) of the present invention comprises at least one fixing pin opening (5) which enables the door adjustment mechanism (1) to be fixed in Z axis while not preventing its movement in X axis. The door adjustment mechanism (1) is connected to the door via a fixing pin passed through the said fixing pin opening (5). The fixing pin is inserted into a slot provided on the door. The said slot extends along X axis. Therefore, the fixing pin can move over the said X axis, however it cannot move over the Z axis.
