Abstract:
A door hinge device adapted for use in a vehicle and equipped with a checker, wherein a check force generation mechanism comprises a center shaft (6) which is affixed to a female bracket (1), a cylinder block (7) which is affixed to a male bracket (2) and has a cylinder section (7b), a piston (22) which is fitted and mounted in the cylinder section (7b), a detent roller (26) which is supported by the piston (22), a check spring (23) which presses the piston (22), and a detent groove which is provided in the outer peripheral surface of the center shaft (6) and with which the detent roller (26) is engaged by means of the pressing force of the check spring (23). The male bracket (2) comprises: male arm sections (2b) which are disposed in such a manner that, inside female arm sections (1b), the male arm sections (2b) sandwich the cylinder block (7); and male base sections (2a) which are interconnected with the male arm sections (2b). The male arm sections (2b) are secured to the cylinder block (7), and both ends of the center shaft (6) which penetrates through the male arm sections (2b) are secured to the female arm sections (1b). The configuration enables the male bracket to be disposed without being influenced by the arrangement of the cylinder block, and as a result, the door hinge device can be reduced in size.
