Description

A DOOR LOCKING MEMBER FOR PREVENTION FROM OPENING DOOR AND THE DOOR LOCKING DEVICE USING

THE SAME FOR INFANT

Technical Field

[1] The present invention relates to a door locking member for infants, which is mounted to a door knob of a sliding door or a hinged door or directly to the door of a piece of furniture, in order to prevent an infant from opening the door, and a door locking device using the same. Background Art

[2] In general, infants aged from one (1) to five (5) years are full of curiosity, and become satisfied of such curiosity through iterative learning.

[3] Therefore, when patients are absent, an infant opens a sliding or hinged door of various pieces of furniture and takes out contents from the furniture, thereby making a mess in the room.

[4] Safety locking devices for infants have been developed to overcome such a problem. However, some of the safety locking devices are of a too complicated structure. Other safety locking devices are too simple, so that the infants can easily acquire the opening skill by iteratively watching and following their parents opening the safety locking devices.

[5] Accordingly, there are required for a door locking member, which can be simply mounted to and unfastened from furniture drawings or furniture doors while preventing infants from opening the same, and a locking device using the same locking member. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem

[6] The present invention has been made to solve the foregoing problems with the prior art and therefore an object of the present invention is to provide a door locking member for infants, which is mounted to a door knob of a sliding door or a hinged door or to the door of a piece of furniture,

Technical Solution

[7] According to an aspect of the present invention for realizing the object, the present invention provides a door locking member for infants, which is mounted to a door knob of a sliding door or a hinged door, or directly to the door of a piece of furniture. The door locking member is made of an elastic synthetic resin, and has an "S" shaped structure with opposing first and second ends, wherein the first end is connected to a

door knob, and the second end is connected to a second end of another door locking member, which has a first end connected to another door knob, thereby preventing an infant from opening the door.

[8] According to another aspect of the present invention for realizing the object, the present invention provides a door locking device for infants mounted to a door knob of a sliding door or a hinged door or to the door of a piece of furniture. The door locking device includes an "S" shaped locking member made of an elastic synthetic resin; a support member connected to one portion of the locking member; and bonding means attached to the support member, for enabling the support member to be attachable to the door of the piece of furniture.

[9]

Advantageous Effects

[10] As set forth above, the door locking member and the locking device using the same locking member according to the present invention can be simply mounted to and unfastened from furniture drawings or furniture doors while preventing infants from opening the same, and a locking device using the same locking member.

[11] Furthermore, the door locking member and the locking device using the same locking member of the present invention have a simple structure and thus, as a merit, can be easily mass-produced.

[12] While the present invention has been described with reference to the particular illustrative embodiments and the accompanying drawings, it is not to be limited thereto but will be defined by the appended claims. It is to be appreciated that those skilled in the art can substitute, change or modify the embodiments in various forms without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention. Brief Description of the Drawings

[13] FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a door locking member for infants according to the present invention;

[14] FIG. 2 is a view illustrating the usage of the door locking member according to the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 ;

[15] FIG. 3 is a perspective view illustrating a door locking device for infants according to the present invention; and

[16] FIG. 4 is a view illustrating the usage of the door locking device according the embodiment shown in FIG. 4. Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention

[17] FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a door locking member for infants according to the present invention; and FIG. 2 is a view illustrating the usage of the door locking member according to the embodiment shown in FIG. 1.

[18] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the present invention relates to a door locking member

10 for infants, which is equipped in sliding doors or hinged doors of various pieces of furniture in order to prevent the infants from opening doors 40.

[19] The locking member 10 has a linear body, in particular, curved into an "S" shape so that loops are symmetrically formed at both parts.

[20] The locking member 10 is made of a plastic material having excellent elastic force, and the opposing ends spaced from the central portion at a predetermined gap 11, which ranges from 0.5mm to 1.5mm, and preferably, is lmm. The gap 11 below 0.5mm is too small to fasten two of the locking members 10. The gap 11 over 1.5mm is too large, that is, the fastening force between the locking members 10 is not sufficient, so that an infant can easily unfasten the locking members 10.

[21] Since the locking members 10 have the above-mentioned structure, the user can easily mount the locking members 10 to the doors by pulling or pushing one end thereof forward or backward. Once the locking members 10 are mounted to the doors, the locking members 10 are not unfastened unless the user forcibly separates them.

[22] In order to unfasten the locking members 10, one end of the locking members 10 should be pushed or pulled forward or backward to widen the gap 11. However, when the applicant has performed experiments on infants for several times, it was confirmed that the infants were not able to perform such a precise action, since they are significantly clumsier than adults.

[23] The locking members 10 can be used without another member or device, as shown in FIG. 2, in order to prevent the infants from opening the doors of the furniture.

[24] In this case, the locking members 10 are connected, at one ends thereof, to handles of the doors, and at the other ends thereof, to each other. Mode for the Invention

[25] FIG. 3 is a perspective view illustrating a door locking device for infants according to the present invention, and FIG. 4 is a view illustrating the usage of the door locking device according the embodiment shown in FIG. 4.

[26] As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the door locking device can be equipped in furniture doors 40, which do not have the door knob 41 as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.

[27] For this purpose, the door locking device includes "S" shaped locking members 10, support members 20, each of which has an insert loop 21 for receiving one end of a corresponding locking member 10, and bonding means attached to the support members 20, for enabling the support members 20 to be attachable to the furniture doors 40.

[28] Examples of the bonding means can include a bonding agent, an adhesive member such as a double-sided adhesive tape, an adhesive and an attachable member such as a

suction pad.
