Abstract:
A double-row ball bearing for supporting a pulley, and the bearing has balls (44) with a small diameter and a smaller dimension in the axial direction. Chamfered portions (49) are provided at portions that are on the inner periphery of an outer ring (40) and close to both ends of the ring. The structures above ensure that adequate amount of greases is sealed in inside space (47) and realize a structure capable of effectively using the grease. The bearing has excellent lubrication characteristics at portions where rolling contact occurs, durability of a double-row ball bearing (32a) is assured, and an auxiliary machine for a motor vehicle, in which machine the double-row ball bearing (32a) is assembled, can be downsized and lightened in weight. Filling grease into the inside space (47) is facilitated so as to ensure that adequate amount of grease is sealed in the inside space (47). Retainers (45) are arranged such that they are guided by the balls and are positioned so as to be nearer to radially inward of the bearing than a pitch circle of the balls (44), so that the grease sealed in the inside space (47) is effectively fed to the portions where rolling contact occurs.
