Abstract:
A method of introducing a Downlink Control Information (DCI) -based early paging indication (PEI) for power consumption enhancements in a 5G/NR network is proposed. In particular, a Base Station (BS) can transmit a message including a PEI to a User Equipment (UE) when the UE is under an idle ode. Then, the UE can receive the PEI under the idle mode and determine whether to monitor a Paging Occasion (PO) according to the PEI. In some embodiments, a format of the message including the PEI can include a format of DCI.
