Abstract:
Provided is a drill head manufacturing method, in which the features of a CVD method can be effectively utilized by applying a CVD coating treatment, at the time of a drill head manufacture which can adopt only the PVD coating treatment in the prior art, thereby to elongate the tool lifetime and to manufacture a drill head suited for a high-speed cutting operation. The drill head manufacturing method comprises soldering a cutting tip (2) CVD-coated with a hard material to an essential portion of the tip side of a head body (1), polishing the outer diameter portions (OD) of the soldered tip (2) around the rotation axis (G) of the head body (1), and then PVD-coating the cutting tip (2) and the head body (1) with a hardening material at a temperature lower than that for soldering.
