Abstract:
There has been a demand for a drill that can stably perform cutting work even with high-strength fiber composite materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). A drill (1) according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a rod-shaped drill body (3); main cutting edges (15) that are located at the leading end of the drill body (3) and that each have a linear portion (21) in a front view; cutting faces (9) that are provided along the main cutting edges (15); and chip discharge grooves (7) that extend in a spiral shape around a rotational axis (X1) of the drill body (3) from the cutting faces (9) toward the rear end of the drill body (3). The cutting faces (9) each have a flat portion (27) that is provided along the linear portion (21).
