Abstract:

[PROBLEMS] To provide a drill which can enhance the lifetime of a tool while enhancing chip discharge performance. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] Since the thinning blade (11) of a drill (1) is provided with a recess (12) formed by recessing the thinning blade (11) to the rear side in the rotating direction thereof, chips produced during cutting are contained in the recess (12) and discharged therefrom to thereby able to enhance chip discharge performance. In order to prevent the vicinity of the axis center (O) portion of the drill (1) from being clogging with chips, chip discharge performance can be enhanced by increasing the thinning amount of a thinning (10), for example, but strength of the entire drill (1) degrades to shorten the lifetime of the tool. Since a recess (12) is formed by recessing the thinning blade (11) of the inventive drill (1), the lifetime of the tool can be enhanced without decreasing the strength of the entire drill (1).
