Title:
DRILL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/035166
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a drill, the tool life of which is improved by obtaining swarf shapes that curl and do not have needle-shaped protrusions, and thereby have shorter overall length, and by the evacuation thereof being facilitated. Because a first convex curve (CL1) corresponding to the convex cutting edge (12a) and a first concave curve (CL2) corresponding to the concave cutting edge (12b) intersect with each other at an intersection point (A) in a cross-section of the drill (10) that is orthogonal to the shaft center (C), the swarf generated from the cutting edge (12) has a shape that curls and does not have needle-shaped protrusions, and thereby has a relatively short overall length. Because the evacuation thereof is facilitated and evacuating ability is increased, the tool life of the drill (10) is improved.
