Abstract:

A drill comprising a blade tip part that is formed from diamond, and a trunk part that is formed from diamond and is continuous with the blade tip part, the drill rotating about a drill axis, wherein: the blade tip part includes N cutting blades, where N is an integer equal to or greater than 4; each of the N cutting blades includes respective N ridges linked to an apex included in an N-gonal pyramid, the apex being present on the drill axis; and the proportion of S1 to S2 is 30-60% (inclusive), where the drill axis is taken as a normal line, and where S1 is the area of the drill in a cross-section that includes a boundary between the blade tip part and the trunk part, r is the maximum value of the distance from the drill axis to the outer contour of the drill in the cross-section, and S2 is the area of a circle having r as the radius thereof.
