Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/143595
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Chips are finely segmented to a desired width to enhance the treatability of the chips and the tool rigidity is improved. Provided is a drilling tool (1) comprising a tool body (2) which has a substantially cylindrical outer shape and which is rotated about an axis (O); a chip discharge groove (4) which is formed in an outer periphery of the tool body (2) and which extends from the tip side of the tool body toward the rear end side; at least one auxiliary groove (7) which is formed in an inner surface (6) of the chip discharge groove (4) facing the front side in the rotating direction (T) of the tool body and which extends from a tip surface of the tool body (2) toward the rear end side; rake surfaces (10); a tip relief surface (16); and cutting edges (14) formed at intersection ridges between the tip relief surface (16) and the respective rake surfaces (10); said inner surface (6) being formed in a step-like shape having at least one step (11) by the plurality of rake surfaces (10). A raised terminal end (8) of the auxiliary groove (7) on the rear end side terminates in a direction different from a raised terminal end (5) of the chip discharge groove (4) on the rear end side.
