The purpose of the present invention is to provide a drive assistance device and a drive assistance method making it possible to perform an appropriate drive assistance. The drive assistance device according to the invention is provided with: an information acquisition unit for acquiring information including environment information, which is information indicating the environment of a road when each of a plurality of vehicles have traveled on the road, travel information, which is information relating to the traveling of each of the vehicles, and vehicle information, which is information relating to each of the vehicles; an information accumulation unit for accumulating information acquired by the information acquisition unit; a recommended driving method calculation unit for calculating a recommended driving method, which is a driving method recommended when traveling on the road, on the basis of the information accumulated in the information accumulation unit; and a notification unit for notifying a vehicle, from among the vehicles, that is capable of automatic driving, of the recommended driving method calculated by the recommended driving method calculation unit.
