Abstract:
This drive device is provided with: an inverter unit (3) for generating a three-phase AC voltage from a DC voltage according to a drive signal based on a voltage command and outputting the three-phase AC voltage to a permanent magnet motor (2) having a permanent magnet; a current detection unit (5) for detecting the motor current flowing through the permanent magnet motor (2); and a control unit (4) for generating the voltage command, controlling the operation of the inverter unit (3), estimating the temperature of the permanent magnet, and performing protection operation for the inverter unit (3) on the basis of the motor current and an overcurrent protection threshold value. The control unit (4) sets the overcurrent protection threshold value on the basis of either one of the control calculation cycle of the control unit (4), the output voltage frequency of the inverter unit (3), and a carrier frequency based on the output voltage frequency of the inverter unit (3) and a magnet temperature estimation value of the permanent magnet.
