A drive device according to an embodiment is equipped with: cylinders; pistons provided so as to be capable of moving reciprocally in a first direction within the cylinders, and having a non-circular shape, including an oval shape, having a long axis and a short axis orthogonal to the first direction; a crankshaft; and XY separation crank mechanisms provide between the pistons and the crankshaft. The XY separation crank mechanisms are equipped with: a support member provided so as to be capable of moving reciprocally in the first direction; a crank connecting member that is attached to the support member so as to be capable of moving reciprocally in a second direction parallel to the long axis of the piston and orthogonal to the first direction, and that is rotatably engaged by a crank of the crankshaft; and linking members linking the piston and the support member.
