This drive device and a lens unit are provided with: a base member (110); a driven member (120) which is arranged at a prescribed distance from the base member (110) and has a flat surface (120p); a support member (130) which couples the base member (110) and the driven member (120) and supports the driven member (120) so that the base member (110) and the driven member (120) substantially maintain the prescribed distance before and after movement of the driven member (120); and a drive member (140) which drives the driven member (120) so that the flat surface (120p) moves parallel before and after movement. The drive member (140) moves the driven member (120) by expanding and contracting a linear shape memory alloy wire.
