Disclosed are a drive device which uses electromagnetic shock, and a movement mechanism which uses the drive device, which are capable of reciprocal movement by means of a small and simple structure. A drive device (1) moves an object to be moved (M), which is supported by a friction surface (S), by applying shock to the object to be moved (M), and is provided with: an electromagnetic coil (2), a permanent magnet (3), a stopper (4), and a control device (5) which controls the electromagnetic coil. The permanent magnet (3) moves relative to the electromagnetic coil (2) by means of electromagnetic action generated by the passage of electric current to the electromagnetic coil (2). The stopper (4) becomes one with the electromagnetic coil (2) and forms a body to be collided with (G), in order to restrict the range of the relative movement of the permanent magnet (3). Due to the passage of electric current to the electromagnetic coil (2) the permanent magnet (3) collides with the stopper (4) or the electromagnetic coil (2), which are bodies to be collided with (G), and a shock is generated. Shock can be generated in either of the directions of the relative movement of the permanent magnet, and the object to be moved can be made to move reciprocally.
