Abstract:
A drive device 100 is equipped with: a gate drive unit 20 which has gate drive circuits 21, 22 which respectively drive the gates of switching elements 11, 12 that are connected in series with one another; a negative-side power supply VCCL which supplies, to the gate drive unit 20, a negative potential GND obtained by stepping down a reference potential COM, which is the electric potential on the low side of the switching element 12; a negative-side capacitor 42 which supplies, to the gate drive unit 20, a negative potential MVS obtained by stepping down a reference potential VS, which is the electric potential on the high side of the switching element 12; a timing detection circuit 50 for detecting the charging timing for charging the negative-side capacitor 42 on the basis of the electric potential state of the gate drive circuit 21 on the high side; and a charging circuit for charging the negative-side capacitor 42 by using the negative-side power supply VCCL at the charging timing.
