Abstract:
Provided is a drive device for a rotary electric machine that minimizes variation in voltage, current pulse, and the like on the direct current side of an inverter, and that achieves a reduction of the capacity of a smoothing capacitor on the direct current side. An inverter control unit that controls the switching of a switching element of the inverter in accordance with a predefined switching frequency sets the switching frequency so that, in the frequency characteristics of direct current-side voltage gain in which a system voltage (Vdc) that is the voltage of the direct current side of the inverter is divided by a system current (Idc) that is the current on the direct current side of the inverter, a frequency is achieved that is equal to or greater than a frequency at which the direct current-side voltage gain value is the same value as when the frequency is set to zero.
