A case comprises a partitioning wall section (91c) that delineates a rotating electrical machine housing chamber and a transmission mechanism housing chamber (99), and a peripheral wall section (91b) that surrounds the periphery of the transmission mechanism housing chamber (99). The oil retention chamber (7) is formed in a region that is surrounded by the partitioning wall section (91c), the peripheral wall section (91b), and a facing wall section (91d). The rotating electrical machine housing chamber and the transmission mechanism housing chamber (99) are positioned side by side in an axial direction, the gear mechanism section (30) is smaller in diameter that a rotating electrical machine (1), and the oil retention chamber (7) is positioned within the transmission mechanism housing chamber (99), in a location that overlaps with the rotating electrical machine (1) in axial direction view.
