Abstract:
An elevator apparatus comprising a cover body placed on an opening at the top of an elevator shaft. A drive unit for lifting and lowering a cage and counterweight is supported by the cover body. The drive unit comprises a drive unit body, and a drive sheave rotated by the drive unit body. A main rope is reeved on the drive sheave. The cage and the counterweight are suspended in the elevator shaft by the main rope.
