Abstract:
A driving assist control device 10 which is capable of controlling a vehicle 1 by using a driving assist mode selected by a driver, and is configured so as to: execute a control causing the vehicle 1 to travel at a target speed during a preceding vehicle-following mode and an automatic speed control mode; detect an obstacle during these driving assist modes, set a speed distribution region 40 which specifies the distribution of the maximum allowed value Vlim for the relative speed of the vehicle 1 relative to the obstacle, and execute an obstacle avoidance control for suppressing instances in which the relative speed of the vehicle 1 relative to the obstacle exceeds the maximum allowed value Vlim in the speed distribution region 40; and prohibit a driving assist mode transition while the obstacle avoidance control limits the target speed in a manner such that the relative speed of the vehicle 1 does not exceed the maximum allowed value Vlim.
