Abstract:
Depending on the distance to an object located forwards in the travel direction of a vehicle (10), this driving assistance device (20) actuates a collision avoidance device mounted on the vehicle (10). The driving assistance device (20) is provided with a resistance determination unit (21) which determines whether or not there is travel resistance suppressing the wheels from rolling forwards in the travel direction of the vehicle (10), an operation determination unit (22) which determines whether or not the driver of the vehicle (10) is operating the accelerator, and a distance setting unit (23) which sets the actuation distance, which is the distance at which to actuate the collision avoidance device. In the case that the resistance determination unit (21) determines that there is travel resistance and the operation determination unit (22) determines that the accelerator is being operated, the distance setting unit (23) sets the actuation distance to a smaller value than if there were no travel resistance.
