Abstract:

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a driving assistance device and a driving assistance method that can perform appropriate automatic driving assistance. The automatic driving assistance device according to the present invention comprises a vehicle position calculation unit that calculates the present position of a vehicle; a map database that stores map data including a driving automation level that indicates the automation level of automatic driving control and is associated with pre-determined sections of roads; and a guidance information generation unit that, on the basis of the present position of the vehicle calculated by the vehicle position calculation unit and the map data, generates as guidance information information relating to automatic driving control in accordance with the present position of the vehicle and the driving automation level for the area ahead.
