Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a driving assistance device and a driving assistance method capable of improving a driver's visibility of a travel lane. This driving assistance device comprises: a map information acquisition unit that acquires map information which includes the lane shape in the direction of travel of a vehicle; a lane shape correction unit that corrects the lane shape acquired by the map information acquisition unit so that the lane shape matches with the position of the lane which is actually visible to the driver of the vehicle in the field of view of the driver; and a display control unit that performs control for displaying, superimposed on the lane which is actually visible to the driver in the driver's field of view, an image of a virtual lane having the lane shape resulting from the correction by the lane shape correction unit. The display control unit performs control for displaying the virtual lane image at least at a spot where the driver's actual visibility in the field of view is obstructed.
