Abstract:
Provided is a driving assistance device which is easy to sensuously operate without giving an uncomfortable feeling to a driver. In said driving assistance device, when an instruction to execute automatic driving is given by an automatic driving switch, an ECU generates a route for automatic driving to a destination and starts the automatic driving when the destination is set by a destination setting unit, generates a route for automatic driving along a road and starts the automatic driving when the destination is not set by the destination setting unit and a traveling intention detection unit detects that the driver has an intention to continue traveling, and generates a route for automatic stop and starts the automatic driving when the destination is not set by the destination setting unit and the traveling intention detection unit detects that the driver does not have the intention to continue traveling. Consequently, the automatic driving is automatically started in accordance with the intention of the driver, and thus the device which is easy to sensuously operate without giving an uncomfortable feeling to the driver is provided.
