Abstract:
An objective of this driving assistance device is to improve safety of driving a vehicle by allowing sustaining an alert even after completing a collision avoidance control which avoids a collision between a host vehicle and an object. The driving assistance device: detects an object in a prescribed detection area ahead of a host vehicle; commences an alert to the driver of the host vehicle with an alert means when the probability of the host vehicle colliding with the detected object rises greater than or equal to a prescribed value; commences a collision avoidance control which carries out an automatic drive operation for avoiding the collision with the object after the alert has commenced; and sustains the alert up until a prescribed timing after the collision avoidance control is completed (e.g., a time whereat the driver of the host vehicle carries out a prescribed drive operation).
