Abstract:
In this driving assistance method, the position of a first obstacle (61) in front of a vehicle (60) in a first lane (L1) in which the vehicle is traveling is detected (S1), the position of a second obstacle (62) in front of the vehicle in a second lane (L2) that is an oncoming lane adjacent to the first lane is detected (S5), a first stopping position (67) is determined (S6, S9) as a stopping position for the vehicle at a position in front of the second obstacle in the direction of travel of the vehicle when the position of the second obstacle is further forward than the position of the first obstacle in the direction of travel of the vehicle, and assistance is given (S11, S12) in stopping the vehicle at the determined first stopping position.
