Abstract:
Provided are a driving assistance system and vehicle-mounted device. Each vehicle-mounted device (1) distributes vehicle information of the vehicle, and transmits to a center (3) wide-area vehicle data in which the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the vehicle is added to the vehicle information. Upon receiving the wide-area vehicle data, the center (3) stores the vehicle information included in the data in a center-side database (33) in association with the VIN included in the data. The vehicle-mounted device (1) transmits to the center (3) an external appearance information request signal which includes a generation timestamp and position information which are included in the vehicle information which is received from another vehicle. On the basis of the generation timestamp and position information which are included in the external appearance information request signal, the center (3) identifies the VIN of the vehicle, the external appearance information whereof is requested by the vehicle-mounted device 1, acquires from an external appearance information database (2) the external appearance information which corresponds to the identified VIN, and returns said external appearance information to the vehicle-mounted device (1).
