Abstract:
Provided are a driving operation assist device and a driving operation assist method that allow a driver to intuitively recognize changes in the gradient of a road surface and whether or not driving operation assistance is being provided, and that facilitate the performance of driving operations that match the surrounding traffic conditions. On the uphill side, the increase in the engine torque (Te) in response to the operation of the accelerator by the driver is proportional to the road surface gradient (θ) (step S105), and on the downhill side, the decrease in the engine torque (Te) in response to the operation of the accelerator by the driver is inversely proportional to the road surface gradient (θ) (step S106). The pedal reaction force (Tr) imparted in response to the operation of the accelerator by the driver is changed according to the road surface gradient (θ), and the increase/decrease direction of the pedal reaction force (Tr) is set to be the opposite of the increase/decrease direction when the engine torque (Te) is changed according to the road surface gradient (θ). In other words, on the uphill side the decrease in the pedal reaction force (Tr) is inversely proportional to the road surface gradient (θ) (step S111), and on the downhill side the increase in the pedal reaction force (Tr) is proportional to the increase in the road surface gradient (θ) (step S112).
