Abstract:
Provided is a driving state estimation device in which a driving assistance unit acquires distribution data (steering angle prediction errors (θe)) for travel state distributions (a first travel state distribution and a second travel state distribution) on the basis of travel state data (steering angle information). Next, the driving assistance unit converts the acquired distribution data (the steering angle prediction errors (θe)) into absolute values. Next, the driving assistance unit: sorts the absolute values of pieces of distribution data (the steering angle prediction errors (θe)) having different temporal ranges among the distribution data (the steering angle prediction errors (θe)) that has been converted into absolute values into bins (prediction error divisions (bi)) that are each of a plurality of data ranges achieved by sorting; and calculates the frequency of the distribution data (the steering angle prediction errors (θe)) as a plurality of travel state distributions (the first travel state distribution and the second travel state distribution). Next, the driving assistance unit estimates the driving state of (determines the degree of driving instability of) a driver on the basis of the calculated plurality of travel state distributions (the first travel state distribution and the second travel state distribution).
