Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a simple method and a simple device capable of accurately measuring the water depth of a field, in particular, the entirety of a rice field. [Solution] By flying, in the air above a field, a drone (unmanned flying body) provided with an ultrasonic wave transmission/reception device, and an infrared transmission/reception device or a microwave transmission/reception device, the water depth at a point immediately below the drone is measured on the basis of a difference in distance measured by water surface reflection of ultrasonic waves and ground reflection of microwaves or infrared. By flying the drone all over the air above a field, the water depth of the entirety of the field can be accurately measured. Measurement is preferably performed only when the drone is in flight at no less than a predetermined speed.
