Abstract:
A drum type washing machine is equipped with a shorting circuit (33) comprising: a reactor (35) connected in series between an AC power supply (32) and a rectifier circuit (37); and a short-circuit control element (36) connected between one end of the reactor and one input terminal of the rectifier circuit, in parallel with the AC power supply. A DC voltage (Vd) outputted from the rectifier circuit (37) via smoothing capacitors (38, 39) is applied to a first inverter circuit (22) for performing drive controlling of a drum motor (7). A control unit (30) for driving the first inverter circuit generates a short-circuit signal beginning at a zero-cross detection point of the AC power supply voltage and conducting the short-circuit control element at least during part of the period of a spin-dry process. The control unit (30) then sets the pulse width (Tw) of the short-circuit signal on the basis of the target voltage (Vt) of the DC voltage (Vd) set according to the target number (Nt) of revolutions of the drum motor and the detection value of the DC voltage (Vd). It is possible to control the DC voltage (Vd) supplied to the inverter circuit to be boosted with an appropriate condition in accordance with a status.
