Abstract:

This drum-type washing machine comprises: a rotating drum (4) which is formed in a cylindrical shape with a solid bottom; a water tank (3) which encases the rotating drum (4); a water circulation assembly (16) which circulates washwater in the water tank (3) with a circulating pump (20) via a circulation path (31) which connects to the water tank (3); a motor (6) which drives the rotating drum (4); a load sensor unit (30) which senses the load of the circulating pump (20); and a control unit (22) which controls a wash step and/or a rinse step. When the motor (6) and the circulating pump (20) are being driven, if a prescribed load fluctuation of the circulating pump (20) is sensed by the load sensor unit (30), the control unit (22) halts the driving of the motor (6) and the function of the circulating pump (20). It is thus possible to avoid bubbles or air entering the circulating pump (20) and to alleviate occurrences of excessive lathering or noise.
