Abstract:
A drum-type washing machine provided with a dirt concentration detection unit for detecting the dirt concentration of wash water in a water tank, and a control unit, wherein the control unit executes a standard mode in which a standard washing step is performed, and a discoloration-minimizing mode different from the standard mode. In the washing step of the discoloration minimization mode, the control unit executes a first washing action in which a first agitation step is carried out during a first agitation step time period, which is shorter than a prescribed agitation step time period in the washing step of the standard mode, and the wash water is drained to a prescribed water level. The control unit executes, for a prescribed number of times, follow-up washing actions for supplying new wash water, newly performing an agitation step, and draining the water. The prescribed water level to which water is drained after the first agitation step is determined according to the dirt concentration level of the wash water in the first agitation step, as detected by the dirt concentration detection unit.
