Abstract:
[Problem] To provide, at low cost, a drum having excellent durability and excellent acoustic characteristics and comprising a drum body having a plurality of split plates that are connected at the side edges thereof and are arranged side by side. [Solution] A plurality of split plates 2 comprising compressed wood material compressed to a specific gravity of at least 0.5 are connected by the side edges 20 thereof and arranged side by side, a polygon cylinder is constituted, the inner and outer peripheral surfaces are machined, and a cylindrical drum body 1 is formed. Ideally, the specific gravity of the compressed wood material is at least 0.8. The drum body 1 is manufactured such that the split plates 2 constitute a cylindrical body having a regular polygon shape in the planar view and the inner and outer peripheral surfaces thereof are machined and formed into a cylinder. Ideally, the wood material is timber from thinned forests or is young thinned wood.
