Abstract:
The present invention relates to a dryer and a controlling method therefor. The present invention quickly and accurately determines the amount of laundry with respect to laundry inserted into the dryer, and controls operations by setting a drying time according to the amount of laundry. The present invention measures the amount of laundry by measuring an electric current supplied to rotate a drum and extracting a force applied to the laundry inside the drum and thereby minimizes an error in the amount of laundry so as to enhance accuracy and improve the drying time. Also, the present invention minimizes an error in the amount of laundry due to tangling of the laundry by changing a rotational direction, and enables a drying operation to be initiated after determining the amount of laundry through the adjustment of the rotational direction. In addition, the present invention sets the drying time by considering both the amount of laundry and the type of laundry so as to prevent damage to the laundry and solve a problem in which the laundry is over-dried or insufficiently dried, thereby being able to effectively dry the laundry.
