Abstract:
The present invention relates to a dryer and a method for controlling the same. The objective of the present invention is to quickly and accurately determine the amount of laundry which is introduced into a dryer, and control an operation of the dryer by setting a drying time depending on the amount of the laundry. To this end, an electric current supplied to rotate a drum is measured to estimate a force acting on the laundry in the drum to measure the amount of the laundry, thereby minimizing errors in the amount of the laundry, such that accuracy is enhanced and the drying time is improved. Also, the drying time is set in consideration of both the amount of the laundry and the type of the laundry, thereby eliminating the problem in which the laundry is over-dried or insufficiently dried, while preventing the laundry from being damaged, such that it is possible to effectively dry the laundry.
